About Me

I am teacher of movement with a particular interest in unravelling our body’s potential for optimum health. My movement journey has led me through a variety of disciplines and art forms. Along the way I have picked up different tools to help nourish the body and mind which offers a support system for our busy lives. As a qualified Yoga teacher and student of Polestar Pilates, my aim is to introduce my clients to their own movement potential.

BACKGROUND

I come from a long line of sport enthusiasts. My immediate family excelled as ballroom and Latin competitors, squash players, marathon runners and aerobics teachers. I learnt from a young age that exercise and physical performance are a fundamental part of growth. I have also learnt (over time) my body needs holistic balance.

I started dance (ballet) training aged 3 and continued to learn other forms of dance (contemporary and jazz) for over 20 years. Dance taught me technique, human expression, and freedom of movement. As an adult I had a desk job in music and media which I enjoyed but I struggled with the sedation of being sat at a desk. To create balance and keep moving I took adult dance classes after work at many venues including The Place, Laban and Danceworks. As I grew my body needed something different. I took my first yoga class with Yogi Ashokananda at the YMCA and fell in love with it. I went on to train at a yoga school (of which there are now many) and completed my first 200 hrs teacher training in 2006. I have continued to learn with other teachers; Yoga helps me untangle my mind and my body. It is my support system which has aided me through many twists and turns and led me confidently into motherhood. As I am hypermobile, and I have a family history of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis I have chosen to now study Pilates (Polestar UK.). Pilates is a science-based method that helps me stabilise my joints, gain control of my core and return to a supported structure which can be relied upon.

I enjoy sharing the practices and exercises with anyone who wishes to explore their own potential. I continue to explore my own – it is a journey not a goal. I am a mum to two beautiful children and a loving husband who can vouch for my inner imperfections.

Come to class and enjoy your unique imperfections too xxx
